PATH TO MARKET ON AGENDA AS WAFARMERS CONFERENCE REGISTRATIONS OPEN

With an impressive line up of speakers and topics, The Western Australian Farmers Federation (Inc.) (WAFarmers) is pleased to open registrations for the WAFarmers 2010 Annual Conference themed ‘The Path to Market’. The WAFarmers 2010 Annual Conference will take place on March 25 and 26 at the Perth Football Club, Lathlain.

The WAFarmers 2010 Annual Conference will provide a comprehensive showcase and examination of Western Australia’s agribusiness industries and provides WAFarmers members, farmers, industry and the media the opportunity to hear the latest developments in the industry.

WAFarmers Marketing and Communications Manager, Chris Marris, noted that the Conference will be an important industry event coming at a time when the path to market is high on the agenda of the States farmers.

“With the current situation with the States grain freight network, agricultural commodity supply chain issues, concerns over the future of rural tertiary education, combined with currency and interest rate pressures, this year’s Conference is sure to be a vibrant event,” said Mr Marris.

“Conference attendees will have the opportunity to hear and speak with leading State and Federal politicians including the Hon. Tony Burke MP, Federal Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry; the Hon. Warren Truss MP, Leader of The Nationals; the Hon. Simon O’Brien, State Minister for Transport; and Dr Chris Back, Senator for Western Australia.

“Leading meat, wool and grains industry speakers will also be presenting including a high profile panel session on optimal grain transportation in Western Australia.”

Of course the WAFarmers 2010 Annual Conference would not be possible without the support of Conference sponsors the CBH Group, Grains Research Development Corporation, Meat and Livestock Australia, the Department of Agriculture and Food WA, Woolworths, the Emerald Group, Kott Gunning Lawyers, Mitsubishi Motors, Connolly and Associates, FarmGuide, Telstra Country Wide, Country Wide Insurance Brokers, Farm Weekly, Prime Super, 4Farmers, Beaurepaires and Keystart Country Housing.

“WAFarmers would like to thank these sponsors for their support of the event, farmers and Western Australian agricultural industries,” concluded Mr Marris.

The WAFarmers 2010 Annual Conference is open to WAFarmers members and non-members alike, with early registrations closing on March 1, 2010. A program and registration form is available from www.wafarmers.org.au or by calling (08) 9486 2100.
