New President and commodity representatives for WAFarmers

The first day of the WAFarmers Annual Conference saw a new WAFarmers President and Senior Vice President elected, the appointment of regional Board positions, the formation of a new Livestock Council and the re-election of individuals to positions on the Grain Section Council.

Following Dale Park’s maximum number of terms as President, Tony York was appointed as WAFarmers President at this afternoon’s WAFarmers Annual General Meeting, with Lynette Slade elected to the position of Senior Vice President.

“On behalf of WAFarmers members and staff, and all those who had the opportunity to work with Dale during his Presidency, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to him and recognise his outstanding commitment and dedication towards the Federation,” Mr York said.

Two remaining positions for regional Board members were also filled, with Rhys Turton and Kallum Blake elected to the positions.

A significant point in the formalities came when the Wool and Meat Councils amalgamated to form the new Livestock Council. The new and invigorated Council will be headed by John Wallace (President), David Slade (Senior Vice President) and Steve McGuire (Vice President), all of whom were elected during the formalities.

“The establishment of the Livestock Council will see greater collaboration on meat and wool issues between the two former councils and will streamline processes to ensure continued and enhanced representation on all livestock issues,” Mr York said.

At the WAFarmers Annual Grains Section Conference, incumbents Duncan Young, Mic Fels and Kallum Blake retained the positions of President, Senior Vice President and Vice President, respectively.

The WAFarmers 2016 Annual Conference will conclude tomorrow evening with a Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony.
