AgConnectWA, the state’s premier youth agricultural group, will host a sundowner event in Esperance later this month, which will attract young farmers and agri-professionals from the Shire and surrounding areas.
President Kallum Blake said the opportunity to meet members in the state’s south would be invaluable to the future direction of the group.
“Last year we held our first sundowner for AgConnectWA members which was held in Broome and was hugely successful, so we wanted to provide that same opportunity for our southern members,” he said.
“It can often be difficult for members to make the journey to Perth for our events, especially during peak production times, so we wanted to continue to extend our reach across the state by hosting an evening where like-minded individuals could get together in a familiar setting.
“From this event we hope to gain an understanding of the challenges facing young farmers and agribusiness professionals in that area, and use that information to help shape the future of AgConnectWA.”
Mr Blake also said the decision to hold the event in Esperance was significant as the group wanted to show their support for those affected by the bushfires late last year.
“The sundowner will provide an opportunity for the young people working in agriculture down there to share their stories with each other and people from outside the region.”
AgConnectWA attracts members from regional and metro areas, who are brought together by a common interest in agriculture and who eagerly contribute to ensuring that agriculture has a viable, sustainable and profitable future.
