CRC funding remains

Regional Western Australia can breathe a sigh of relief after the full $13 million funding for the Community Resource Centres (CRC) was reinstated last week.

WAFarmers congratulates LinkWest and other groups who rallied behind the CRCs across Western Australia. The CRC networks provide a crucial and trusted network for many who live outside of the metropolitan area and offers vital services including assistance with IT, parenting support, facilities for paying bills, attending courses and meeting points.

WAFarmers President Tony York congratulated the Minister for Regional Development Alannah MacTiernan and the McGowan Government for the reversal.

“We thank the Government for listening to the community and understanding the importance of the CRC network to many people living in regional areas”, Mr York said.

“As the State and Federal parliaments resume after the Winter Recess, WAFarmers is calling on all elected members to focus on the issues impacting the bush.

“Unresolved matters such as the live sheep trade and Moora Residential College are all adding pressures to farmers, kindred industries and regional businesses.

“The government must end the uncertainty affecting regional Western Australia to reinstate confidence in the bush so it can once again be an attractive place for people to work, live and invest.”
